We had a great outing at the recently concluded Summer Biomechanics Conference (SBC) meeting at Albuquerque in New Mexico. Bryan opened the conference with a fantastic talk on creating digital twins for the left atrium. Hannah Haider followed it with applying our novel digital twinning platform for patients with a genetic disorder (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, HCM). Olivia gave a great talk on modeling the mechanics of a pregnant uterus, drawing inspiration from cardiac mechanics modeling, which also marks our entry into women’s and maternal health engineering. Hannah Zhai gave an excellent presentation on modeling the fluid-structure interactions in ascending aorta, with applications for personalized surgical planning. Last but not the least Yurui’s poster on decoding the `cross-talk’ between heart tissue and the coronaries that supply blood to the heart itself was met with a great reception. Unfortunately, Parker missed the action due to an ill-timed fever. The icing on the cake is the Marsden Lab alumni get together. Congratulations to everyone for all your hard work and persistence.
